Week 2. 3 terms.
Venue: West Pennard Village Hall

This u3a group has been set up for you to learn the basics of playing a ukulele. We start with the instruments and then the theory and then learning the chords. Don’t worry - it’s all fun based. The aim is for you to learn the basics in this group, and then learning new chords to increase your knowledge as we progress.. You very quickly will be playing songs from the u3a Song Book and our own collection. We play pop songs, country songs and everything in between.

The term is 6 classes and it’s 3 terms. You pay £6 upfront which covers the £1 charge per class per term. You can download the u3a books from the web page. More information will be given when you have registered to join the class.

My aim is to show you how to play the 4 chords CAFG. These chords are in most songs and we have lots of fun learning them and having the confidence to play songs.

The last class are now moving onto the next stage which is the Ukulele Intermediate Class which I also take. Hopefully by next August you can join them. Do not worry if your fingers are a bit stiff – you do what you can but always enjoy yourself. Just sing louder.

The equipment you will need is ukulele, music stand, tuner (rechargeable one) and yourself.

We play at West Pennard Village Hall fortnightly on Tuesdays between 2pm and 4pm. Parking is good. There is disabled access and disabled toilets.

Meetings in the rest of this year are on 22/09, 06/10, 20/10, 03/11, 17/11, 01/12.

You can register for this group by clicking my name above (shown as Leader) to send me an email. Please join the u3a Street and Glastonbury branch online by clicking the blue “Join Us” button above.

So hope to see you in September
